“That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.” Genesis 6:2

     In these words are seen a turning point in the judgment of men. Beauty took precedence over compatibility. But the result of this incompatibility caused hostility from the opposing views of life, of tastes, and of affection. It has fomented a bitter spirit between the two who came together in marriage. The mystique of infatuation wore off and then the reality of a foolish decision came to light with the unending regret.

     The greatest gift next to life and freewill is GOD’S gift of Love. It is out of love that “GOD created the heaven and the earth” (Gen.1:1). It was out of love that GOD “gave his only begotten Son” to redeem men from the curse of sin with all its woes (Jn.3:16). And it is man’s cultivation of the nobility of godly love in his heart that fits him for eternal life, as it is written: “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” Rom.13:10. This word for love is the Greek word, ‘agape’ and is only attainable through the gift of GOD. Man, in and of his own strength is incapable of ‘agape.’ The only love man can muster is limited, selfish, and ultimately failing in nature.

     Now, behold what religionists and atheists alike have done to this heavenly gift. Christians, Muslims and Buddhists alike teach that those who do not have god’s love in their souls will receive the damnation of fiery torment in hell—for all eternity. And to this they all say, “Amen!” Is it any wonder religious history is riddled with every conceivable atrocity? As long as the character of our Creator is viewed with such satanic cruelty the cruelty of religionists will continue to fester.

     Then there are the secularists who impose on government and society its cold will the acceptance of anal and oral sex as being a good and moral judgment; even to the point of indoctrinating children to the practice of sodomy. Just by examining the statistics of crime shows the obvious and literal threats of how assaulting the core of family virtues has contributed to more crime, more debasing characters, and more personal struggles than any other factor in our society. To preserve and uplift the nobility of the family that has perpetuated the human race from the beginning stands among the most noble efforts. And yet, it is spurned today with a spirit of ridicule and oppression. The evil of men is proclaimed as virtuous, and the pillars of moral righteousness are declared obsolete!

     With the defiance of men and women against the laws of life’s security and perpetuation, one of many consequences is that well over 80% of prison inmates come from broken homes. Gang members, prostitutes, drug addicts, suicide victims and the tens of thousands held in insane asylums, all can be associated with the sins that result from the degradation of the dignity found in the stable tradition of family life.

     Misguided love has caused more crime, insatiable lusts, anger, depression, and sarcasm that any single aspect of life. And yet, it’s harmful consequences are treated with silence in government, the media, and even academia. This silencing of the conscience shows a weakness and a belligerence against addressing this, because to bring it to the forefront of legislative reforms would eliminate the pornography, the indulgence of adultery in television and film, and restore a dignity that exposes the sin behind it all.

      So, how can man best turn this social fiasco around? Following the path charted by our Creator for the benefit of man. Even for those who deny the existence of GOD cannot in good conscience deny the virtue in what the Bible calls men to do for their fellow man. After the deliverance of the Hebrews from the slavery of Egypt specific counsel was given. And this admonishment applies perfectly to our lives today:

“Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment: Neither shalt thou countenance [bias toward] a poor man in his cause. If thou meet thine enemy's ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again. If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him. Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause. Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked. And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous. Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard. Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed. And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect.” Ex.23:1-13.

     The remedies to our many problems are always simple. But man has another agenda that does not include the solutions to our many problems. But rather, man intends to fester them, foment them, even exalt their influence to create division and hatred among the people. Truly, it is as Jesus said, “This is an evil generation.” Lu.11:29. And so He calls all men to another way, a better way, a way that secures eternal life: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38. And with this gift true love will take the reigns of the heart. And that love is 'agape.' This is the only love that lives forever.
